New West Partnership Trade Agreement
The New West Partnership Trade Agreement between the Governments of Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan will come into effect on July 1, 2010. It will create Canada’s largest interprovincial free trade zone.
Removing barriers to trade, investment and labour mobility across all economic sectors will strengthen the economies of the West and:
- enhance competitiveness;
- improve labour mobility;
- improve business climate; and
- reduce costs for businesses, governments and consumers.

Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA)
The governments of Alberta and British Columbia signed a groundbreaking agreement to remove barriers to trade, investment and labour mobility between the two provinces. The agreement creates the second-largest economic region in Canada.
The agreement came into full force on April 1, 2009.
